Thorin believes that Astralis is a chance for NEO to prove to everyone that he is a strong coach

Counter-Strike 2 analyst Duncan Thorin Shields spoke about the appointment of Filip NEO Kubski as the coach of Astralis. Shields said on the Counter-Points podcast that this is a great opportunity for Kubski to prove to everyone that he is a strong coach.

In my opinion, this is a good project for two reasons. First, NEO will really test whether he is a good coach or not. Secondly, this is coaching work. I don't think people understand this. Let's take zonic. I don't blame him for the Falcons because he deserves it. He took two of the greatest teams in history and won majors with them. After this, you have the right to choose your own job. It's like talking about Pep Guardiola returning to the role of coach. If he comes back, he doesn't have to go and prove anything in some Everton. He can choose the best job in the world. If he became England coach - there were such rumors - it would not be just a nominal position. He could hire his entire staff, define the style of play, and at least leave star players out of the lineup if he wanted. Because he is already at that level. NEO is not at that level. And that is why, it seems to me, he and TaZ do not yet have an excellent coaching reputation. Their reputation as players has given them jobs above their actual coaching level.

Kubski joined Astralis in July. Prior to this, NEO was a mentor for FaZe Clan for three years. The organization parted ways with the coach in March 2026. With him, the team reached the finals of majors three times and won several tier-1 tournaments.
