KJ: “If you have a good PC, then why would you play League of Legends instead of Dota 2?”

LGD Gaming support Matheus 'KJ' Santos Jungles Diniz, in an interview at the Esports World Cup 2026, spoke about how Santiago 'TaiLung' Olivos Aguero Gustavo got into the team, and also explained the reason for the popularity of Dota 2 in Peru.

[ How did you find him? ] Initially we weren't sure how good he was. Then, when our lineup needed changes, we talked to people and heard that it was strong. I heard that he was playing at a very high rank from a toaster, being in Peru with a ping of 200. We thought: “Imagine how this guy will play in good conditions.” We tried to play with him and he turned out to be really good, a great teammate.

[ There aren't many new players appearing in the pro scene, but South America and Southeast Asia are somewhat more likely to bring new blood into Dota. Why do you think? ] To be honest, I don't know that much about it. I think Dota is well developed in these regions. In these countries, for some reason, people love Dota, and all conditions have been created for this. For example, in Brazil computer clubs are dead. And in Peru they are very popular. People come there and they have the opportunity to play on a good PC. If you have a good PC, then why should you play League of Legends instead of Dota 2? I think it's a cultural phenomenon, at least in Peru. I don’t know anything about Southeast Asia and Russia.
