На reddit назвали причину смерти китайской про-сцены — дело не в LoL и законах страны cover

Reddit user ShoppingPractical373 said that Honor of Kings is the reason for the decline of the professional Dota 2 scene in China. He noted that it is very popular among teenagers in Southeast Asia.

A game you've never heard of, but which is quietly killing Chinese Dota 2 (though maybe not so quietly). Whenever this subreddit tries to explain the reasons for the decline of Chinese Dota, it always talks about League of Legends, the Curse of Wings, match fixing, or gaming laws. But no one ever mentions one of the main reasons (because of course many of you have never actually interacted with the Chinese community) - the game Honor of Kings. For gamers from Southeast Asia, this is the Chinese equivalent of MLBB, created by Tencent (by the way, the same company that owns Riot Games). In fact, it is the world's most profitable mobile game, with annual revenue expected to reach $1.68 billion in 2025, surpassing Roblox. The local esports scene is huge too. The national championships attracted 60 thousand spectators, filling the entire Beijing Olympic Arena, shown in the picture. They can literally field entire academy teams with players around the same age as Satanic. When the game is installed on the phone of every 15-year-old teenager, everything becomes clear, right? I don't understand how Dota 2 can compete with it. Even the LoL scene is having a hard time keeping up with developments.

At the time of publication, Honor of Kings has a rating of 3.7 on Google Play and 4.6 on the App Store. The game has been downloaded more than 50 million times. The last Tier 1 HoK tournament took place at the Esports World Cup festival. 20 teams competed for a prize pool of $3.025 million. Kuaishou Gaming, a roster from China, became the champion.
