Spain already installed as 2030 World Cup favourites ahead of two European powerhouses after 2026 triumph

Newly-crowned champions Spain are very early favourites to win the 2030 World Cup after their win over Argentina in Sunday's final, while four nations rank above England in the early outright betting.

Spain extended their unbeaten run to 38 games, the longest international streak in history, at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as a goal from Ferran Torres in the 106th minute was enough to secure victory.

La Roja conceded just once in their eight games at the tournament, which happens to be the fewest goals conceded by any team in a World Cup -winning campaign.

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi, who started all eight games for Luis de la Fuente's side, was awarded the Young Player Award for his contribution at the back. He also became one of only five teenagers in history to have won the trophy.

With Cubarsi and several other youngsters in their ranks, including Pedri, Gavi and Lamine Yamal, the nation's future on the world stage is bright.

In fact, Spain are the current favourites to defend their crown in 2030, when they will co-host the tournament alongside Portugal and Morocco. (For those unaware, the opening three matches will be played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.)

After a disappointing tournament in the United States, five-time winners Brazil follow behind Portugal with odds of 8/1. England, meanwhile, are also 8/1 favourites to lift their first World Cup since 1966.
