torzsi: "StarSeries was a nice slap in the face"

MOUZ are back in form for Pro League as they beat Spirit for the second time this season.

StarSeries was the moment MOUZ 's honeymoon with Oldřich "⁠PR⁠" Nový ended, but the team are already putting it behind them by sailing into Pro League playoffs.

Spirit went 3-0 in ten consecutive Swiss group stages before this one in Katowice, but were torn apart by a rampant MOUZ on both Dust2 and Mirage.

Danil "⁠donk⁠" Kryshkovets , as he has been a few times against MOUZ now, was kept quiet by stellar MOUZ preparation.

Dust2's B site has been a weakness for MOUZ but Lotan "⁠Spinx⁠" Giladi and PR were in fine form as Spirit had to rip up their original game plan.

"Finally PR and Spinx found out what they like to do," Ádám "⁠torzsi⁠" Torzsás said. "And versus Spirit, I think they showed that they improved a lot on the B site. also said after the game he felt really confident and he was proud of the work he put in, and it was just nice to see them improving."

Congratulations. I don't know if you saw, but Spirit had won 32 matches in Swiss in a row before that. So how does it feel to break that record?

We didn't really think about that, to be honest. But as you said, I think it's good that we beat them. Of course, it was also, just overall, we faced each other three times this season. Or no, two times, sorry, two finals. And in maps, we were four-four. They won four maps, we won four maps. And now we just wanted to win, and we are up six-four right now in overall with this lineup. So I think that's a good result for us then. So I feel really good.

It's always been such a fascinating matchup because it feels like you guys do seem to make donk quiet more than other teams. And again today, what was the secret?

The secret? Just feels like we had really good preparation. Of course, we knew they would pick Dust2. It's one of their best maps and we also feel really confident on it. And sycrone and xertioN had some really good ideas. On the CT side, I need to watch back the game, but it felt like donk didn't really have much chance to play. He was getting HE'd every time. We know he always likes to cross with the first door smoke, and every time he did it, I think he was minus 50 with a HE.

So he had a tough time for sure, and we also got a lot of entries. I had at least four entries on the CT side Dust2. So the pieces were just set up really well for this half, and we just converted it on the T side on Mirage. On Mirage T side, we played really good. We had good ideas again. But it was really back and forth. We couldn't convert the rounds, and they also couldn't convert the rounds. So it was a scrappy half, the first half.

And second half, I feel like we could have closed the game down sooner if I was a little bit sharper. I felt like there were some crucial shots I missed. There were at least one or two situations, at least two situations, where if I kill, maybe we have a much better chance to win the round and we can close out the round and close out the game. But I'm really happy how we played, and it gives us good confidence going into the playoffs.

Spinx locked down B on Dust2 And do you think teams will finally stop targeting B so much on Dust2 early in games? 'Cause I know it's something you talk about every event almost, like, "We're going to put work into it. We're going to put work into it." But today, it was just completely locked down.

Yes, I think our B site has improved a lot. We had, of course, PR, who's a new guy on our team, and we had to see what he likes to play, also on B. And I think finally he and Spinx found out what they like to do. And versus Spirit, I think they showed that they improved a lot on the B site. He also said after the game he felt really confident and he was proud of the work he put in, and it was just nice to see them improving and performing on the B site. And I think that's important for us.

And on your own form, last like four or five events, maybe not StarSeries where everyone sort of struggles at StarSeries. But outside of that, you're pretty much MOUZ's top player most of the time. How important is it for you to get back into this form?

It's pretty important, especially now this tournament and the next one, especially for the VRS. The Major is coming up, and this stretch before the Major, I think it's always the most important for the teams, for the rankings and for the stickers and everything. But overall also for the progression for the teams, and I think we are improving by tournament and tournament.

And as you said on StarLadder, we didn't really play good. I think we didn't really show up. We took it a little bit easy, and I think that was on the players. And it also showed on how we played, and it was a nice slap in the face. So we stepped up for this tournament, and we are putting the work in it, and I think it also shows.

Okay. And for this tournament, there's a bit of a big four right now in terms of who people think are actually aiming to win tournaments. And I'd say you're comfortably in that four. Is that the goal now pretty much after Bounty?

Yeah, we are aiming for the trophy. Yes. I think in Bounty we showed the potential we have. And after that it was more like, okay, maybe it was just, how do you say it, when you are a new team and everybody's happy, you know?

Honeymoon period. And after that, StarLadder happened and we had to figure out stuff, and now we are progressing, and I think we showed the potential in Bounty, and now we are progressing towards that again. And yeah, in our head, we are aiming for the trophy. The first was, of course, to make playoffs. Now it's to make semi-finals. But we are just taking it game by game. But yeah, as we said, we are aiming for the trophy.
