Peru may criminalize match fixing in Dota 2

Peru may criminalize participation in fixing matches on the professional stage. This was reported by Amaru Gaming support Jose Leonardo 'Panda' Padilla Hernandez.

It is noted that after the situation with PlayTime at the Esports World Cup 2026, the country is preparing to launch a new domestic Dota 2 league. Thanks to the league, unscrupulous players may face criminal consequences, including possible prison sentences.

Panda said that the launch of the league in Peru is planned for 2027. According to league rules, players found guilty of participating in match fixing will not only face eSports sanctions, but may also face criminal charges.

Previously, the organizers of the Esports World Cup 2026 postponed the PlayTime meeting against Vici Gaming due to “an issue related to the integrity of the competition.” Some time later, ESIC reported that PlayTime members Herrera Martinez 'DarkMago' Osvaldo Gonzalo and Juan David 'Vintage' Angulo Nijo were temporarily suspended from performing on the pro stage. The team received a technical defeat and left the competition, and after a while the club excluded the players from the roster.
