Valve has made changes to the process of linking a CS2 team to a region. The changes will affect the distribution of invites to tournaments with regional quotas.
The region of the team is still determined by the citizenship of the majority of participants. However, now when issuing an invite to a major or other tournament using the VRS system, the team must be tied to the region for three months. That is, the roster cannot change its roster a month before the invitation to the event in order to take a slot as a representative of another country.
The updated rule will work when issuing invites to PGL Major Singapore 2026. The event will take place from November 25 to December 13 in Singapore. 32 teams, selected by Valve ratings, will compete for a prize pool of $1.25 million. Participants will be determined based on the VRS ratings from November.
