Sutton backs Manchester City to respond in Anfield test
Chris Sutton and Starsailor singer James Walsh share predictions for week six of the Premier League season, including a pivotal Anfield meeting.

Manchester City’s response at Anfield on Sunday will be closely watched after the club was found guilty of breaching most of the 115 financial rules in the case against them. Chris Sutton believes the match could reveal whether the champions have been affected, while the possible consequences for the current season remain uncertain as City lead the Premier League.
For the sixth round of fixtures, Sutton is joined by Starsailor frontman James Walsh, a Liverpool supporter. The band is marking the 25th anniversary of its debut album, Love is Here, with a UK and European tour this month featuring the record in full and a string ensemble.
Walsh remains hopeful that Liverpool can win silverware under new manager Andoni Iraola, despite Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz not immediately finding their best form after last year’s major signings. He does not expect the title, but would welcome an FA Cup or Carabao Cup triumph and a strong European campaign.
Among Saturday’s predictions, Sutton selects Arsenal to beat Leeds 2-0, Aston Villa to defeat Brentford 2-1 and Chelsea to overcome Bournemouth 3-1. He sees draws for Ipswich against Fulham and Sunderland against Brighton, while Manchester United are tipped to beat Tottenham 2-1 at Old Trafford. Walsh predicts a draw for Arsenal-Leeds and backs United to win 1-0.
ColdMath take
The Anfield meeting is the immediate test for Manchester City after the financial ruling, while Liverpool’s ambitions under Iraola remain focused on competing for domestic cups and Europe.
The weekend predictions also point to pressure on Tottenham and Manchester United, with both teams needing a result at Old Trafford.
Pick an outcome. Trade it beside the story.
