Valve adjust rules for VRS region swaps

Teams are now ineligible for a region swap if they appeared on any other region's VRS list within the preceding three calendar months.

Valve have adjusted the CS Major Supplemental Rulebook after several organizations made changes from the Europe to the Asia VRS to increase their chances of making the Major.

"A roster is only eligible for a Regional Assignment if they did not appear in any other region's VRS list in the preceding three calendar months," the new addition to the rulebook reads.

In practice, this means that any region change for a team will need three months to come into effect, removing the chance for teams to make a change just before the deadline to secure a Major appearance, as they will not be assigned to a region.

A thing to note is that the change only counts for the Major invites, meaning teams are still eligible for invites for events outside of the Major circuit.

for comment, Valve clarified that the change will take effect for the Singapore Major. They also confirmed that the change comes into effect three months before the Major invites go out, and not three months before the Major begins.

The game developer also shared that the teams that went for region swaps ahead of the Singapore Major are disqualified from the Major run, unless "they reach out and find a solution."

The update comes after a few organizations announced their change to the Asia VRS with one month to go. BC.Game 's signing of Tyson "⁠asap⁠" Paterson was the most notable switch, while WW and Sashi were also among teams to make a last-gasp shot at the Major. The update means their changes are rendered pointless, however.
