At BETBOOM Streamers Battle 15 for Dota 2, we talked with Daxak Team's carry Mikhail eccobladee2k Anisimov. In an interview with him, he spoke about the biased attitude towards his team at the tournament, conflicts and acquaintance with Nikita Daxak Kuzmin.
The conversation took place before the end of BETBOOM Streamers Battle 15
How do you like BETBOOM Streamers Battle 15? This is your first LAN as a player. Do you like everything?
Before this, I was only a spectator at BETBOOM Streamers Battle x Dynamo 12. Playing, of course, is more enjoyable, even though we haven’t played a single match yet. Well, in fact, there is a semi-tear. I think it may go away with time. And production in general is superb here in the CIS.
How do you like your lineup? You play with a legend like Daxak. What can you say?
I was a fan of Nikitos there even when I was in school. For fun, I bought reviews of all sorts of roflotourics from him. I have two discussions with him on my channel, I’m still [very young] there. A fun and good dude, really. Everyone thinks he’s a little freaky, but as a person he’s definitely super good and kind. Well, the most important thing is that, it seems to me, he plays Dota 2 more than half of the tournament participants. He's a locomotive.
There was a story that he, in fact, somehow found you among the audience. How was it? And were you on the hype as a fan?
OK. I was not on the hype at all, I was working at the Promplan Group of Companies, industrial parks in the Moscow region. In winter, he made me a moderator on his channel. I wrote to him there, I had his Discord, sit and moderate the chat, because he always has such cool guys in the chat, so to speak. He has such isolated guys, Spartans.
I was sitting at work, at the moment it was either a day off or I was sick, I don’t remember. I kind of wrote to him: “Let’s go show with me,” because he’s like that kind of dude - he can just call a random guy from the chat, who will write to him: “Hey, Daxak, you [fool],” and he’ll just call him on Discord to comment on the game, so that the dude will embarrass himself in front of a large audience.
Just commented on a couple of games with him. And then it turned out that he had a huge queue of analysis, and he needed people who would analyze people and whom he trusted. And he ran tests on this stuff. I wrote for fun: “Go me.” He said that I was good at Dota 2, and invited me, so to speak, to work - to give him a share, to sort people out, to teach them Dota, [to humiliate] them for money. And I quit my job.
Did you regret the decision?
(Laughs) I didn’t regret it, yes.
Continuing the story of Streamers Battle: there is a lot of money regarding your composition and more. And there were arguments with you. But let's start from afar. To what extent do you think that player ratings are fair?
I don’t know, they helped us, although they stopped cheating later. For example, even the avice team has already changed their opinion about me. They say: “The dude plays to his rank, he has his own heroes that he can ride on.” And other people too. In general, there is no sediment there. Well, it was like it was, what. Maybe I would [speak out] the same way if I were them.
What would you change? Or haven't you thought about it?
It seems to me that we can add some privileges to people who enter there from top 4 to top 8, something like minus points, something like that, a bonus system. And for those who are from top 1 to top 3, the points can be automatically increased by one for everyone or something else, so that at least the lineups are mixed and there are more opportunities based on points.
Moving closer to you. There was a story at the last BETBOOM Streamers Battle: Vladimir Vovapain Tolmachev began, let’s say, to doubt the reality of your MMR, after which the stirring and raising of all accounts began. Why do you think Vova didn’t like you so much? And in general about the situation itself, about my feelings at the moment when such distrust comes from people.
Yes, I wanted it to be like this: “Wow, a new face. Salam, guy, how's life? He plays well, handsome,” that’s all. I think it's mostly a problem of perception. That is, if you consider someone to be an unreal high-skill, then bad actions will not be noticed. It seems to me that if you put any high PTS player, no matter what role, to watch all the games, he will say that I definitely do not have some kind of high rank, and so on.
Vovan, it seems to me, is promoting this whole topic more. At every Streamers Battle they have some kind of scandals and quarrels. In short, they import a lot of content. And so I remember publics with both Vovapain and Goodoq. If they want, they can look at OpenDota. Goodoq probably ruined ten games for me. And the first experience with Vovapain, I remember: I was on Specter, he was on Treant Protector, we were on Radiant, and at the end of the game he told me that I was a very nice young man. So I'm not offended by him or anything like that. Like let it hype.
And about the money, that you have a cheating composition, about the fact that, in fact, the majority has already attributed the victory to you in this tournament even before the second finalist was determined. Doesn't this bother you?
In fact, it seems to me that we had a lot of difficult games at the tournament. We often play for an hour, and games often end 2:1. It shows that we have to sweat. So there is definitely competition at the tournament.
The fact that we have a cheating lineup is definitely fake. Because, it seems to me, we just all throw in what is required of their points. And many people underestimate Daxak's impact on the team. Therefore, they need intravenous guides with boosty Daxak and a couple of disassemblies from it. I think they will understand how much of an impact this person has.
And in your team, Daxak is the central person, let’s say? Will he have the last word or will you distribute it somehow?
Nikitos especially tries not to take part in drafts. He gives his opinion there, what he likes and what he doesn’t like. He calls his hero himself, maybe we can call a midak or a “five” there.
In the game, his voice is the main one. Then Groom calls, and ya sulen and I throw in something more from our position. And it’s general calls and so on that Daxak does. And the movements of enemies, some comments on the map, a game plan, lenses - he calls everything.
Why did you decide to choose the role of carry?
Before that, I played mid and four because my best friend from school played offlane. And I needed him and I to be able to find a quick enough game and still have time to get some sleep before school. And then somehow I was hooked. On some tour I had to play as a carry, I went and practiced as a carry, and after that I got hooked on this role.
And then the person with whom I became the first to become friends among such high-PTS players was Koma'. When 200 more people were watching. Well, it’s much easier to play when someone you know plays your role, he has a high PTS. You can ask for advice there and simply imitate his gameplay.
But there is a carry from professional Dota, who was your inspiration? Who were you following? Gamestyle, pool?
Well, when the replays were in Dota, I probably watched Yatoro and Monet the most. These are the ideological inspirers. Of course, many will throw disrespect. This is poyoyo, whose nickname now is YSR-04E, GodKing is a Chinese carry who played for SAG and came up with the idea of buying Sange and Yasha for each hero, disassembling it into Heaven's Halberd and Manta Style. Well, Yatoro and Daxak, probably. These are my four pillars that I looked up to.
But what features could you notice? Give advice for the carry.
Carry chips... Beat more camps than you think. Stop getting into unnecessary fights. Strafe towards your next camp. Do not play seven-cores in public. And try to call out enemies and rangers in packs.
If the enemy sups have Arcane Boots, click on the ranger and you can check whether someone is standing under the pack or not. Playing there can definitely bring you five or six extra packs.
In general, given the meta, the way Dota is developing, there are a lot of trends in the community that now everything is being done, so to speak, for supports. So you, as a carry, a first position player, confirm that you are being deprived?
I was looking into this issue. I found the official Valve group on Steam, there are about 300 people there. I just clicked through all their accounts and found Dotabuff for each one. There wasn't a single person there who plays carry. And in principle, all the trends are that in Dota they try to make everyone equal, and it is precisely the range of capabilities of cows that is much more underestimated.
A trivial example: Ghost Scepter costs 1.5 thousand, the closest answer is Nullifier costs about 5 thousand. Here Alexander Nix Levin is 100% right: the developer is a support, he plays a sub. Like, it’s quite hard for the korks, you have to parkour.
Well, in general, how do you like the latest update in Dota? For many years now they have been saying that Dota 2 is dying. It seems like she is alive, something is twitching, twitching, but there is still such an awkward feeling that something is wrong.
These neural network updates are pretty [tired], in fact. In general, our community, the CIS, is the largest. That is, in fact, we have the most influence on the game, but we do not influence anything. Therefore, you have to check with Reddit. And what did it look like there before? A patch comes out, they post some shit, people stink, then they throw out some chest with glitter, and they’re like, “Oh, this chest, how cool everything is,” and everything is leveled out.
And now, recently, even they have begun to notice that the patches are from the neuron. They catch kekandos from this. Well, in general, it seems to me that everyone is unhappy with the developers. But we eat, we tolerate, we swallow.
Well, I’m originally from CS. At least Dota 2 had a gap while it was Valve's favorite child.
No, CS actually has a lot of updates. People say that Deadlock is constantly being patched, like no one is doing Dota. At the same time, there was no major update in Deadlock for 250 days. The fact that they recently released a patch, in fact, they just slightly changed the visuals of the map, but there are no gameplay updates, like in Dota.
It seems to me that CS is being actively promoted, because the main developer... I don’t remember his name, he’s a guy with Asian appearance.
Ming Li?
Probably yes. He actively plays CS, communicates with players, and even the fact that everyone knows him at least by sight, who created the game, and he is on some kind of feedback with the guys who play the game, is already a huge respect.
Have you thought about jumping into some kind of professional path in Dota 2? Or do you enjoy streaming more?
For pro-Dota, I’m definitely a noob, plus I’m too old. 24 years is literally a death sentence. And difficult competition. I can't imagine playing in some tournament and having to fight with Yatoro and guys like that. Plus, you will have to spend a huge amount of time and health to build up your personal skill. So I'm happy with where I am. That's enough for me.
Well, the last question. How did you come up with your nickname? Does it have any special meaning?
I don’t particularly shine with any kind of variability in coming up with nicknames (laughs). I previously had a different nickname on Twitch, and I was banned from my account there because I was hacked. I just went to Twitch to watch Papich’s Dota streams.
Then I was sitting at the dacha, I remember for a long time I couldn’t come up with a nickname. I just took music artists that played often in 2018, like Bladee and Ecco2k. I just changed places and that’s it.
The same thing with the nickname I have now - WEWASTETIMEFADED. This is from the DXXM album Scarlxrd, the title of the song is “we waste time FADED”. I don’t really get excited about the topic of coming up with nicknames.
