Aurora coach kpii expects another long series against Team Spirit
Aurora Gaming coach kpii discussed the draft against Team Spirit and why lane matchups matter less in increasingly long Dota 2 games.

Aurora Gaming coach Damien “kpii” Sau-jing Chok discussed the opening-map draft against Team Spirit during BLAST SLAM VIII. He also addressed a broader shift in the current Dota 2 metagame, where matches increasingly stretch deep into the late game and reduce the importance of early lane dynamics.
The discussion included a brief exchange about a supposed secret Anti-Mage appearance from Yatoro. kpii first dismissed the reference as a misclick, then acknowledged Yatoro’s reputation on the hero, calling him an exceptional player and admitting that the idea had made him nervous.
According to kpii, games now commonly last 50 to 60 minutes. That makes the early game relevant, but not decisive: even a weak opening can still lead into a long contest. At the time of the interview, Aurora and Team Spirit were playing the first map of their upper-bracket semifinal at BLAST SLAM VIII.
ColdMath take
Aurora’s opening phase may carry less weight if the semifinal follows the current trend toward 50–60-minute games. The team’s ability to remain effective through the late game will be especially important against Team Spirit.
The first map was already underway, so the immediate test was how both teams would convert their draft choices into a prolonged contest.
Pick an outcome. Trade it beside the story.
